Do you have an interest in surfing?

Do you want to learn more about the science and sport of New England Surfing?

If you do, join the BOAT CAMP Inc. crew on Saturday, April 17th for an Intro to New England Surfing.

You’ll look at the science behind surfing in New England during this Saturday morning workshop and learn about tides, boards, gear, wind and waves as it relates to coastal northeast Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Also included will be surfing etiquette, best practices and where to go for further instruction.

Instructors: Steve Sofronas and Rob Yeomans.

Time: 9:oo am to noon.

Cost $40.

About Boat Camp, Inc.

BOAT CAMP Inc., a nonprofit marine and environmental education organization that offers a variety of week-long summer programs for kids ages 5 and older ashore and afloat, is offering a new summer program this year, “River Runners.”

The Cape Ann Women’s Softball League (CAWSL) will be holding sign-ups for women 18 years and older on Friday, April 23 at Mattos Field (Veteran’s Memorial School) on Webster Street in Gloucester at 6:00 p.m.

Registration is $10 (non-refundable) and registrants should bring their gloves.

Registration for the Salisbury Youth Baseball/Softball League will be held on the following dates at the following locations:

Wednesday, January 20th at the Salisbury Elementary School lobby from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.
Saturday, January 23rd at the Salisbury Fire Station from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Registration Fees:

$95 for coed instructional baseball
$115 for minor/major baseball and softball (with a $95 fee for each additional child in a family)

Newbury Girls Softball has an instructional league for girls in Grades 1-2 and a softball league for Grades 3-9 .

Newburyport Pioneer Baseball/Softball League’s Spring Season Registration Now Open

Online registration for the Newburyport Pioneer League Baseball/Softball League’s spring season is now open.

Players must be at least 6 years of age as of April 30, 2010.

Registrations for A & B Baseball and A Softball Divisions are due to close on September 21, 2009.

When:Monday through Thursday, August 17th to 20th
Where: Lion’s Park in Salisbury (located behind Salisbury Fire Station, not far from Salisbury Center)

The Salisbury Summer Softball Clinic is being offered Monday through Thursday, August17th to 20th at Lion’s Park in Salisbury.

Two sessions are being offered:

9:00 a.m. to 12:00 pm (noon) for position players
12:00 pm (noon) to 1:00 p.m. for pitchers and catchers

The clinic, which is for girls 8 to 18, will be run by Caitlin Flanagan, Danielle Mason and Katie Younes.

Cost:

The cost is $150 per player or $175 for players staying for the pitching/catching session.

Pan-Mass Challenge Co-ed Softball Tournament Benefit, Cashman Park, Newburyport, Saturday/Sunday, June 27th and 28th

If you want to help support the mission of the Pan-Mass Challenge locally, you can help by supporting and/or sponsoring a team in the Pan Mass Challenge Co-ed Softball Tournament Benefit that will be held on Saturday and Sunday, June 27th and 28th at Cashman Field in Newburyport.

The fundraising event starts at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27th.

Team Sponsorship

If you would like to enter the tournament or sponsor a team, the cost is $250 per team. Each team must have at least three females.

About the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge

The Pan-Massachusetts Challenge raises money for life-saving cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and is considered among the leanest of fundraising organizations in the nation today.

In 2008, 100 percent of all funds raised by PMC riders in its annual fundraising bike-a-thon went directly to the Jimmy Fund. Not one cent of each dollar raised through riders’ sweat and determination was used for administrative and organizational expenses

Amesbury High School softball coach Chris Perry is running a Learn To Pitch camp at the Amesbury Middle School from June 29th through July 3rd at the Amesbury Middle School.

The camp will run from from 9:00 am to 11 am each day. Any girl in grades 3 through 11 is welcome to attend. The cost is $150 per player.
