Newburyport Youth Lacrosse Association Clinics, Governor’s Academy Field House, Byfield, February 17th and 18

When: Wednesday and Thursday, February 17th & 18th
Where: Governor’s Academy Field House, Byfield, MA

The Newburyport Youth Lacrosse Association will host clinics run by Newburyport High girls coach Catherine Batchelder and boys team assistant coach Todd Francis on February 17th and 18th at the Governor’s Academy Field House, Byfield.

The clinics are for boys & girls in Grades 2-8.

Times:

Girls: 9:00 to 10:30 a.m.
Boys: 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Cost:

$40 per player ($30 if NYLA member).

The Newburyport Youth Lacrosse Association currently has openings available for boys interested in playing lacrosse in the 2010 Spring Season.

Openings are available in the following school grades:

Boys teams for 2010

7th and 8th Grade Boys
5th and 6th Grade Boys
4th and 3rd Grade Boys

The Georgetown Athletic Association is holding sign-ups for the spring lacrosse season on Wednesday, January 13th at Georgetown Middle/High School from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.

Cost:
The cost to play GAA lacrosse is $75 per player with a family cap of $175.

There will be no on-line registrations. For those who cannot attend the registration at Georgetown Middle/High School on January13th, please contact Anne Blythe, GAA Lax Registrar, by email at aslblythe@verizon.net or call her at 978-352-8345 to register.

Where: Newburyport High School, World War Memorial Stadium (behind the High School on Toppan’s Lane)

On Wednesday, July 29th, the Friends of Newburyport Lacrosse will sponsor an Alumni Game Fundraiser for both men and women at Newburyport High School’s World War Memorial Stadium.

Friends of Newburyport Lacrosse is a partnership between Newburyport Youth Lacrosse Association, Y Clipper Lacrosse, Newburyport High School Lacrosse and the Newburyport High School Boosters.

Come on down and enjoy two lacrosse games played under the lights!

Schedule:

Two games will be played:

Women’s Lacrosse Game: from 6:30-7:30
Men’s Lacrosse Game: from 8-9:30.

Tickets:

Tickets are $5 per person at the gate. Wear your NYLA T-shirt and get $1 off.

The games will be played rain or shine.

Refreshments will be available!

Lacrosse legends Mike and Casey Powell will host lacrosse clinics on Monday through Wednesday, February 23rd-25th at the Seacoast United Indoor Complex, Hampton, NH.

Girls Clinic (all ages): 9:00 am to 10:00 am for $75.
Boys Clinic (ages 9-13): 10:00 am to 12:00 pm (noon) for $125.
Boys Clinic (ages 14-18): 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm for $125.

The Newburyport Youth Lacrosse Association is now holding registration for the 2009 boys and girls season. Registrations are now being accepted by mail.

Students in grades K-8 are welcome. The season runs from the end of March through June. Practices meet twice a week at the Nock Middle School and games are on Sunday afternoons

Governor’s Academy Lacrosse Team Ranked Number 3 In New England

Congratulations to the players and coaching staff of the Governor’s Academy lacrosse team for wrapping up a perfect season (17-0) yesterday and winning the school’s first sole Independent School League title in its history. The lacrosse team has an impressive array of Division One talent with graduating players headed to some of the best Division One lacrosse colleges and universities in the country.

Dan Guttenplan, Sports Editor of the Newburyport Daily News, has a nice article about the Governor’s lacrosse team and how talented they are in today’s edition. It is worth a read.

How good is the Governor’s Academy lacrosse team? Well, according to a national power ranking system used to rate high school lacrosse programs, the Governor’s are ranked Number 3 in New England and Number 34 in the country. An amazing accomplishment.
