Governor’s Academy Lacrosse Team Ranked Number 3 In New England

Congratulations to the players and coaching staff of the Governor’s Academy lacrosse team for wrapping up a perfect season (17-0) yesterday and winning the school’s first sole Independent School League title in its history. The lacrosse team has an impressive array of Division One talent with graduating players headed to some of the best Division One lacrosse colleges and universities in the country.

Dan Guttenplan, Sports Editor of the Newburyport Daily News, has a nice article about the Governor’s lacrosse team and how talented they are in today’s edition. It is worth a read.

How good is the Governor’s Academy lacrosse team? Well, according to a national power ranking system used to rate high school lacrosse programs, the Governor’s are ranked Number 3 in New England and Number 34 in the country. An amazing accomplishment.

103 Game High School Lacrosse Team Winning Streak Snapped

April 26, 2008

High school lacrosse is a relatively new sport for the River Rival members of the Cape Ann League. But for other schools such as the Northeast Conference League (NEC), not too many miles to our south, lacrosse has been an established high school varsity sport for a much longer period of time.

The Beverly Panthers High School varsity lacrosse team had won an amazing 103 NEC games in a row, a span going back to 1997. Eleven years without a conference game loss. That is an amazing feat in any sport, especially when you are dealing with high school athletes with a wide range of skills and emotions.

The Panther’s didn’t make it to win number 104, however, as their decade long plus winning streak was snapped by the Peabody Tanners on Thursday as Beverly went down to defeat 9-3.

Registration for Newburyport, Pentucket and Triton Youth Lacrosse Programs

Registration is now underway for the 2008 Spring Youth Lacrosse programs for the Newburyport, Pentucket and Triton Youth Lacrosse programs.

NEWBURYPORT YOUTH LACROSSE

The Newburyport Youth Lacrosse organization is currently holding registration for the the 2008 boys and girls lacrosse seasons. Any boy or girl in grades K-8 is welcome.

TRITON YOUTH LACROSSE

Registration for the Triton Youth Lacrosse program will be held at Newbury Elementary School cafeteria on November 14th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Any boy or girl in grades 1-8 is welcome. Home games and all practices are held on the Central Street Fields in Byfield.
