12th Annual Clipper Classic Golf Tournament, Newburyport Gridiron Club, Applehill Golf Club, Friday, July 15th

The Newburyport Gridiron Club will be hosting the 12th annual Clipper Classic Golf Tournament on Friday, July 15th at the Applehill Golf Club in East Kingston, NH.

Included is a breakfast of coffee and doughnuts, 18 holes of golf with cart, longest drive and closest to the pin contests, registration gift, various handouts and a lunch by the Galley Hatch.

The tournament will help raise money for the Newburyport High school football program.

Registration will begin at 7:00 a.m. with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start.

Costs:

The cost is $125 per player.

Where: Pingree School, 537 Highland Street, South Hamilton, MA

The Cape Ann Youth Football League along with the Pingree School, South Hamilton will be hosting a two-day, 7v7 Tournament for the fall of 2010 seventh-and eighth-grade area football teams at the Pingree School in Hamilton.

The Tournament is open to all area youth teams for free. T-shirts and trophies will be awarded.

Dates & Times:

Eighth-grade tournament: Saturday, August 7th, starts at 10:00 a.m.
Seventh-grade tournament: Sunday, August 8th, starts at 10:00 a.m.

There is a nice write-up on former Newburyport High School football player and Villanova football stand out, Jonathan Bugli, on Boston.com.

The senior played right tackle for the championship Villanova Wildcats football team which captured its first NCAA National Championship on Friday, December 18th defeating previously unbeaten Montana, 23-21, at Finley Stadium at Chattanooga, TN.

Good luck to Jonathan in his next pursuit of making it into the NFL! We have a feeling we’ll be reading about him some more.

The Newburyport vs Georgetown high school football game that was originally scheduled to be played on Saturday, November 14th was rescheduled to Monday, November 15th at 7:00 pm.

The game was rescheduled due to the driving rain storm that moved into the area on Saturday.

Game Location Changed: Now Being Played At North Andover High School

The game will not be played in Georgetown as originally scheduled.

Instead, the game will be played at North Andover’s high school field, Walsh Stadium at 7:00 pm under the lights.

Where: Newburyport High School. World War Memorial Stadium, Newburyport (behind the High School)

Newburyport High School’s Homecoming Football Game is being played Friday evening, September 25th, at the World War Memorial Stadium in Newburyport where the Newburyport Clippers will be hosting the Ipswich High School Tiger’s at 7:00 pm.

Come on down and help celebrate Newburyport High School’s Homecoming Game! It’s a great time of year to enjoy the New England fall weather.

Special Event: Field Goal Kicking Competition

The Homecoming Game will have a field goal competition at half time following the band performance.

Buy a $1 raffle ticket to win a chance to be in the field goal competition.
Two lucky winners will be selected to kick the longest field goal.

The winner will receive an NHS football signed by the team, an NHS football shirt, a clipper pride towel, a clipper pride button and a sticker.

All proceeds from the raffle will benefit the scholarship program of the Booster Club which awards three scholarships annually to qualifying seniors.

It’s that time of year where high school football is back! The weather is nice and the cost of admission to these games is a bargain.

Three games are being played under the lights by local high school football teams in the Cape Ann League (CAL) on Friday, September 25th:

East Boston at Amesbury
Ipswich at Newburyport
Whitman-Hanson at Triton

All games have a 7:00 pm kickoff.

The Triton Regional High School football program is having a mandatory meeting for anyone interested in playing this fall from grades 9-12 at 6:00 pm on Monday, August 17th in the high school auditorium.

The staff will discuss equipment handouts, physicals and preseason dates currently scheduled at this time. Players should be accompanied by a parent.

Football Practice Starts On Monday, August 24th at 8:00 am

The Triton Regional High School football team will begin practice on Monday, August 24th at 8:00 a.m.

All students interested in playing will have to have a physical to be permitted to practice that is within 13 months of the starting date of the fall sport he or she is going to play.
