Newburyport Boys Basketball Association Summer Program At Newburyport High School Gymnasium

Clipper Girls Summer Basketball ClinicWhen: Monday, June 21st to Thursday, June 24th (2010).
Where: Newburyport High School, High Street, Newburyport, MA

The Newburyport Boys Basketball Association is offering a summer hoops program for boys in grades five through eight at the Newburyport High School gymnasium on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, starting Tuesday, June 29th.

  • 7th and 8th Graders:  Tuesday nights from 6:00 to 8:00 pm from June 29th through August 10th.
  • 5th and 6th Graders: Tuesday nights from 6:00 to 8:00 pm from July 1st  through August12th.

Cost: The cost is $50 for all seven sessions or $10 for each session attended.

The annual Clipper Girls Basketball Camp, under the direction of NHS athletic director John Daileanes, will be offered Monday, June 21st (Noon to 5:00 p.m.) and Tuesday, June 22nd through Thursday, June 24th (8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.) in the Newburyport High School gymnasium.

The camp is open to all girls entering grades 3-9 in the fall of 2010.

Pentucket Girls Basketball Team In Division 3 Semifinal Game at TD Garden, Tuesday, March 9th

Where: TD Garden, Boston, MA.

Good luck to the Pentucket Girls Basketball team today in their Division 3 Semifinal game at TD Garden. The Pentucket Sachems (25-0) will be taking on perennial Division 3 basketball power Archbishop Williams (20-5) in a 4:15 late afternoon game at TD Garden.

This is the third time in four years that Pentucket will be facing off against Archbishop Williams. Pentucket came up short in the past two meetings in 2007 and 2008. Hopefully the third time will be the charm for Pentucket!

The winner of the Pentucket-Archbishop Williams game will play the winner of the match-up between Division 3 Central champion Quaboag (20-4) and Division 3 West champion Lee (22-1) for the state championship Saturday, March 13th at the DCU Forum in Worcester.

Pentucket Girls Basketball Team Taps Off Against St. Mary’s In Division 3 North Semifinal Game At St. John’s Prep, Danvers, Wednesday, March 3rd

You can help cheer on and support the Pentucket Regional High School Girls Basketball team (23-0) on Wednesday, March 3rd at St. John’s Prep, Danvers, where the Pentucket Sachem’s will be tapping off against St. Mary’s of Lynn (17-6) in the Semi-final game of the Eastern Mass Girls Basketball North Division 3 bracket.

Pentucket, the Cape Ann League (CAL) Champion, completed an impressive and undefeated season, and is the Number One seed in the North Division 3 bracket; St. Mary’s is the Number 4 seed.

The game starts at 6:00 pm and is being played at St. John’s Prep in Danvers.

You can stay warm and comfortable tonight at a high school basketball game. Here is the schedule for Friday’s high school basketball games for teams in the  Greater Newburyport region:

Boys Basketball: All Games Start at 6:30 pm

  • Newburyport (5-8) at Hamilton-Wenham (9-2). Newburyport has a tough task tonight.
  • Amesbury (1-14) at Ipswich (2-11). Amesbury is looking up tonight. Could be a winner.
  • Triton (4-8) at Manchester Essex (11-4). Tough one for the Vikings tonight.
  • Pentucket (6-7) at Rockport (8-4). Rockport has a pretty decent team this year.
  • Wilmington (9-5) at Georgetown (9-5). Should be a good game between two “9 and 5″ teams.

Girls Basketball:

  • Hamilton-Wenham (4-7) at Newburyport (7-8), 6:30 p.m.  Chance for Newburyport to get to .500 tonight.
  • Rockport (0-13) at Pentucket (16-0), 6:30 p.m. Talk about entering the Lions Den.Two teams at opposite ends of the spectrum.
  • Ipswich (11-1) at Amesbury (3-10), 6:30 p.m. Tough game for the Indians.
  • Manchester Essex (4-10) at Triton (6-8), 6:30 p.m.; Triton has chance to get closer to .500 tonight.
  • Georgetown (2-10) at Wimington(7-6), 7:00 p.m. Can Georgetown knock off the Wildcats?

The high school basketball season is about half-way through and teams are fighting to qualify for the state tournament. Teams need at least a .500 reco to qualify for the tournament.

The Newburyport Elks will be holding its annual Hoop Shoot Contest on Saturday, December 5th at the Bresnahan School, Newburyport.

Sign-ups begin at 8:00 and the games begin at 9:00 a.m.

 Boys and girls ages 8-13 are welcome,but must present a birth certificate at sign-ups.

Where: Nock Middle School and Newburyport High School

The Clipper Boys’ Basketball winter clinics, directed by Newburyport High School coach Tom L’Italien and Athletic Director. John Daileanes, will be offered for boys in grades 2-8 on Sundays starting on November15th and continuing through January 10th.

The clinic will be offered on the following Sundays:

  • November: 15th, 22nd, and 29th
  • December: 6th, 13th, and 20th
  • January: 3rd and 10th
