The Mass Audubon Society’s Joppa Flats Education Center offers a Wednesday Morning Birding program from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
If you’re one of the lucky ones that has time available during the week, join Joppa Flats Sanctuary Director Bill Gette and USFWS veteran David Weaver for this weekly birding field trip in the Newburyport/Plum Island area. It’s a great way to observe birds in the area and identify some of the better locations for finding them when on your own.

Sunday’s March 14th Plum Island Beach Cleanup By BOAT Camp Inc., Newburyport Rescheduled To Sunday, April 18th

Note: Due to approaching bad weather the beach cleanup originally scheduled for Sunday, March 14th has been canceled and RESCHEDULED for Sunday, April 18th.
If you would like to help with a Plum Island beach cleanup, BOAT CAMP Inc, Newburyport, is looking for volunteers of all ages to help them with their beach cleanup on Sunday, March 14th.
BOAT CAMP Inc. has adopted the stretch of Plum Island beach that spans from Captain’s Fishing Parties’ pier to the South Jetty as it runs along the Merrimack River.
Meet at the playground on the northern end of Plum Island; BOAT CAMP will provide the gloves and bags.
Lobstermen tell us there’s a ton of stuff flowing downriver from the storm, so there should be plenty to pick up.
Celebrate the return to Daylight Savings with a walk on the beach with us!
Volunteers of all ages are welcome.

Join Mass Audubon’s Joppa Flats Education Center teacher Lisa Hutchings on a search for wintering harbor seals on Saturday, March 13th. She’ll take you near the mouth of the Merrimack River where these seals are commonly seen.
For families with children ages 7 and up.
Fee: $15 for children; $5 for adults (must be accompanied by children). Pre-registration is required.

The Newburyport Umpire’s Association is asking all returning and new umpires to attend an initial meeting on either Saturday March 13th or Sunday, March 14th in the lower conference room of the Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank, State Street, Newburyport.
You only have to attend one of the meeting sessions, either Saturday or Sunday.
First-year umpires must be at least 14 years old as of April 30, 2009.

Mass Audubon’s Joppa Flats Education Center, Newburyport is offering a new, bi-monthly Saturday program, Family Flyby at Joppa Flats. The focus of Saturday’s program is “Seals Along The Shore.”
Fly-by or spend some time at the center and have some free-flowing nature fun. The program is for families with children ages 2 to 12.
Fee: $5.00 per child.
Pre-registration is not required.

Newburyport Youth Hockey is offering a five session, Learn to Play Hockey Program, at the Graf Rink, Newburport. The program starts on Monday, March 15th and ends on Sunday, March 28th.
The goal of this program is teach girls and boys basic hockey skills while creating a fun environment.
Cost:
The fee is $75 for NYHL players and $100 for non members.

Ipswich Bay Circuit Trail Committee Sponsored Hikes
You are welcome to join the Wednesday morning hikes that are sponsored by the Ipswich Bay Circuit Trail Committee.
An informal group meets at the Town Landing on East Street, Ipswich at 9:30 am on each Wednesday from mid September to mid June. All are welcome.
The morning hikes explore the woods and trails in and about Ipswich. There are eleven miles of marked trails in Ipswich, Massachusetts, including a portion of the Bay Circuit Trail. These trails are maintained by members of the Ipswich Bay Circuit Trail Committee (IBCTC) with other volunteers, including Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and other organizations in Ipswich.
