The Annual Amesbury Day Block Partyis the kick-off event for Amesbury Days. These events are a great way to experience the charm and uniqueness of small town living in this picturesque town. Join your colleagues, friends and neighbors and help celebrate Amesbury Days and support the 12th Annual Block Party, the largest fundraiser of the year coordinated by the Amesbury Chamber of Commerce & Industrial Foundation.

Boats and Bagels: A Morning at Lowell’s Boat Shop, Amesbury, Saturday, June 5th

Lowell’s Boat Shop, the oldest continuously working boat shop in America, in collaboration with the Newburyport Adult & Community Program, is offering Boats & Bagels: A Morning at Lowell’s.
Come row and explore! Join boat builder and maritime historian Graham McKay for a presentation of historic photographs of Point Shore—schooners on the Merrimack River and former boat shops.
This is followed by rowing instructions for the inexperienced.
The finale is a rowing trip to Point Shore in one of the renowned Lowell skiffs or dories.
Cost $45.
Class limit: 15.

The Whittier Home Assocaitionwill be hosting their first Public Tea in the Victorian Garden of the Whittier Home on Saturday, June 26th at 2:00 p.m. Enjoy an elegant tea in the beautiful historic gardens of the John Greenleaf Whittier Home in Amesbury, MA.
The event features tea, lemonade, sandwiches and dessert.
The Whittier Home is a nationally known Historic House Museum which inspires, enlightens, and educates people about the life, legacy, and literary works of John Greenleaf Whittier. The Museum honors his commitment to ending slavery, practicing his Quaker faith, and providing a courageous example of moral leadership for his community and the nation.

The sale will include plants from Whittier Home members’ gardens, as well as Whittier’s own garden.
Garden supplies, including vases, tools, pots and garden decor as well as cookbooks and gardening books will be on sale.

Mighty Merrimack Rowing Race
Lowell’s Boat Shop, the oldest continuously working boat shop in America, invites you to watch and/or participate in the Mighty Merrimack Rowing Race on Sunday, May 23rd.
The race which is held in conjunction with the Boat Shop’s “Spring Launch” celebration (from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm), celebrates the opening of the shop’s waterfront for the 2010 season.
The Mighty Merrimack Rowing Race, is a 5.5 mile race, starting at the Rocks Village Bridge, West Newbury and ending at Lowell’s Boat Shop, in Amesbury, features dories, skiffs, kayaks, canoes, other traditional boats, sliding seat boats and shells. Rowers are welcome to participate.
After the race, the celebration continues at Lowell’s Boat Shop with victuals, grog & music, provided by the band Demijon.
