If you want to explore the local area and see the birds of the Greater Newburyport/Plum Island area, join Mass Audubon’s Joppa Flats Education Center, Newburyport program, on Saturday morning as they search for local avian activity in the region.
For beginners and birders of all skill levels.
Fee: Adults $10; Children ages 8 and up $7.
No preregistration required. A parent or guardian must accompany children.

Newburyport Choral Society 2010 Spring Concert Series — “Music of the Romantic Age”
Featuring music by Brahms, Schubert and Mendelssohn
The Newburyport Choral Society will present Johannes Brahms’ Requiem on May 5th and 6th in the Belleville Congregational Church at 300 High Street, Newburyport, MA.
On Saturday the concert will begin at 8:00 pm, and the Sunday performance will start at 2:30 pm.
Tickets: Ticket prices are $20 for general admission, $18 for students and seniors, and $15 for groups of 12 or more.

Mass Audubon’s Joppa Flats Education Center, Newburyport will be swimming with family fun about the sea on Saturday, March 31, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
We know how important it is to be “green,” but how do we apply that to the way we live on the New England coast? Come to Joppa and find out!
A full day of activities and exhibits will demonstrate where our seafood comes from, how it is caught, and what community-supported fisheries are.
Adults will enjoy a wide variety of vendors, and children can participate in “eco” sporting events, fishing competitions, art projects, and more. You can even be a contestant on a game show!
Learn how we can all take responsibility for sustaining the natural beauty and resources of our coastline.

The Mass Audubon Society’s Joppa Flats Education Center offers a Wednesday Morning Birding program from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
If you’re one of the lucky ones that has time available during the week, join Bill Gette, Joppa Flats Sanctuary Director and Dave Weaver, Birder’s Certificate Program graduate for this weekly birding field trip in the Newburyport/Plum Island area. Appropriate for all birding levels.

Owls, with their haunting hoots and cries and human-like eyes, have been woven into folklore and legend since ancient times. Even today, because of their mostly nocturnal habits, owls are a fascinating, somewhat elusive group of birds to study.
Spend an evening with Scott Santino, Teacher-Naturalist, at the sanctuary learning about the natural history of the owl species that occur in Massachusetts.

The Essex Baseball Association is happy to announce the formation of a three team league based out of Spencer Peirce Little Farm in Newbury, MA.
The Essex Base Ball League will consist of three teams the Lowell Base Ball Club, the Lynn Live Oaks, and the Newburyport Clamdiggers and will play Sundays at the farm. All teams were clubs that played in the 19th century. League games will be played by 1861 rules.
