Chili Con-Carnival Benefit for Food Pantries, October 18th

Okay, all you chili lovers!
Here is your chance to sample a wide range of chili from local restaurants and individual chili-aficionados, and also help support local area food pantries. On Saturday, October 18th from Noon to 3:00 pm, make sure you stop by the Chili Con-Carnival that is being held in the parking lot of the Grog Restaurant in downtown Newburyport.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the following local food pantries:
- Our Neighbor’s Table in Amesbury
- The Pettengill House in Salisbury
- Community Services of Newburyport
Representatives of these local agencies will be present at the cook-off to provide information about their services and to accept direct donations.
In addition to the great chili, the Chili Con-Carnival will feature live music and raffles.

Apple Harvest Run Fundraiser in West Newbury, October 5th

The West Newbury Page School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) will hold its 19th Annual Apple Harvest Run fundraiser event for the John C. Page Elementary School on Sunday, October 5th.
The Apple Harvest Run is a wonderful family event with races for all levels of ability. This North Shore Event draws most of its runners from the metro Boston area, the North Shore, and surrounding region.
The 5 Mile Course is USATF (USA Track and Field) Certified. Proceeds from the Road Race will benefit the educational programs at the Dr. John C. Page Elementary School in West Newbury, Massachusetts.
Annual “Trick or Treat Trot” 5K NHS Benefit Race, October 26th

Cost: Registration is $15 pre-race; $20 the day of race
The annual ‘Trick or Treat Trot’ 5K race to benefit the Newburyport High School Class of 2010 will be held on Sunday, October 26th at 12:00 pm (noon). The race starts at the high school.
You can pre-register for the race for $15. If you register on the day of the race, the fee is $20. Registration on the day of the race starts at 10:30.

Pettengill House Benefit Concert at Firehouse Center, September 20th

If you want to help support the Pettengill House, a non-profit, community social service agency that provides services to individuals, children, and families residing in Salisbury, Amesbury, Newburyport, Merrimac, West Newbury, Newbury, Rowley, Byfield and Groveland Massachusetts, and have a great evening out at the same time, come to the Pettengill House benefit concert and silent auction on Saturday, September 20th at the Firehouse Center For The Artsin downtown Newburyport.
The benfit concert will feature The Mystix, an All-star band representing the very best journeymen of the Boston/New York music scenes, with roots in R&B, Rock and Roll and Country. The Mystix have been rapidly gaining recognition for their unique sound, featuring inspired original material and superbly crafted arrangements, as showcased in their new CD, “Blue Morning.”

Eastman’s Fishing Fleet Donating Use of Boat For NH Foodbank Trip, November 3rd

Eastman’s Fishing Fleet of Seabrook, NH is donating the use of one if its boats, the Merilee Ann III, for a second New Hampshire Food Bank trip.
Last October, a group of friends from New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts, who regularly went out fishing through Eastman’s, made a special trip and donated their 1,000-pound catch to the New Hampshire Food Bank, the state organization that helps stock the shelves of local food pantries. Eastman’s donated another 600 pounds.
This fall, Mark Bellaire and three others who went out last year are organizing another trip on Monday, November 3rd. They will donate their catch and raise money for the New Hampshire Food Bank and four local Make-A-Wish Foundation chapters through an online auction at eBay’s MissionFish.org website.

17th Annual Walk Against Violence & Dorothy’s Run 5K for Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center, October 19th

Join the Jeanne Geiger Crisis Centerin Newburyport for the 17th Annual Walk Against Violence and Dorothy’s Run 5K to help raise funds for the Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center. The Center is hoping to raise $90,000.
This year the Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center has also added the Dorothy’s Run 5K on Oct. 19 (12:45 p.m.).
