Mass Audubon’s Camp Wildwood Director Bob Speare will lead this workshop and field trip. Bob has a deep interest and expertise in photography and teaches photography classes for Mass Audubon sanctuaries across the state.

Newburyport Boys Basketball Association Summer Program At Newburyport High School Gymnasium

The Newburyport Boys Basketball Association is offering a summer hoops program for boys in grades five through eight at the Newburyport High School gymnasium on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, starting Tuesday, June 29th.
- 7th and 8th Graders: Tuesday nights from 6:00 to 8:00 pm from June 29th through August 10th.
- 5th and 6th Graders: Tuesday nights from 6:00 to 8:00 pm from July 1st through August12th.
Cost: The cost is $50 for all seven sessions or $10 for each session attended.

Fall Birds of Plum Island
North Shore Community College is offering a three hour class, Fall Birds of Plum Island, on Sunday, September 12th at the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge on Plum Island. The instructor for the class is Sue McGrath, President of the Essex County Ornithological Club and owner of Newburyport Birders.
Bird watching at the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge on Plum Island is exciting because it’s a world famous, productive site.
Learn to appreciate the world of birds!
During this three-hour class, you’ll learn about birds in an “outdoor classroom”.
This class will provide new birders with the aids needed to begin bird identification ~ special characteristics, bird behavior and habitat preferences. The class will focus on bird identification techniques.
You’ll be walking over gentle terrain at a slow pace. Sturdy footwear is necessary along with a long-sleeved shirt, long pants, hat, insect repellent and sunscreen.
Bring a snack and a beverage. Class fee includes interpretive materials.

Did you ever want to learn how to build a canoe? Do you have an interest in boat building? If you do, this five-day program, Build Your Own 10 ½’-15 ½’ Canoe, at the Essex Shipbuilding Museum, Essex, MA is for you.
In this 5-day course held at the Essex Shipbuilding Museum you will build your own double paddle canoe – either a 10 ½’ solo, an 11 ½’ solo, a 13 ½” tandem, or a 15 ½’ tandem – classic lightweight craft for easy car-topping and carrying.
The Essex Historical Society and Shipbuilding Museum preserves the history of New England’s wooden shipbuilding industry since the 1630s and maintains one of the best maritime collections in the region.

The camp is open to all girls entering grades 3-9 in the fall of 2010.

You and your pre-schooler(s) are invited to join the staff of Maudslay State Park, Newburyport, for the Kidleidoscope Program from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
Each week the Kidleidoscope program will introduce your pre-schooler to a new topic about nature in a three-part program that includes:
- a story
- a craft and
- an activity (that includes outdoor exploration).
Each program lasts about an hour.
Where To Meet:
Meet at the Park headquarters building on 74 Curzon Mill Road.
This program is for ages 3 to 6. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
