86th Annual Christmas Candlelight Concert, The First Religious Society in Newburyport, Sunday, December 18th

Come to the First Religious Society in Newburyport and enjoy and experience their 86th annual Christmas Candlelight Service on Sunday, December 18, at 7:15 pm.
This traditional carol service will feature music from three choirs, a brass ensemble, and the newly restored pipe organ.
The congregation will sing such old favorites as “O Come, all ye faithful,” “O Little Town of Bethlehem,” and “Joy to the World,” and the choirs will sing a mix of traditional and new works from around the world, including carols from France, England, Germany and Spain.
Celebrate the season in the First Religious Society’s historic sanctuary!

Rowley’s 10th annual “Some Like it Hot!” Chili Cookoff will be held Saturday, November 5th from 5:30 to 8:p0 p.m. at St. Mary’s Parish Hall, Main Street (Route 1A), Rowley.
Chili lovers can look forward to sampling 20 or so versions of this tasty delight judged by 5 local celebrities. Admission includes cornbread, veggies, hot dogs, dessert and the featured item; varied chili recipes including red, green, meat and vegetarian options.
Ipswich Ale, Stone Cat Ale, and Mercury soda will be available for purchase from our co-sponsor Mercury Brewing Company. A variety of red and white wines may also be purchased from our co-sponsor, Rowley Liquors.

The First Religious Society in Newburyport opens its beautiful sanctuary at 8:00 pm for a Jazz Music Vespers Service Wednesday, November 2.
November Vespers occurs at Mid-Autumn, the season when ancient people celebrated the brightness of the moon in the time of increasing night.
The Jazz Vespers house band will be directed by Susan Creamer on piano. Sue attended the Berklee College of Music and has performed her original works at various venues in the U.S. and in Mexico.

Boston Bruins hockey fervor continues on the North Shore! The community is invited to be a part of local hockey history when Boston Bruins alumni legends, including Bruins all-time great Ray Bourque, Rick Middleton, Terry O’Reilly and others, take the ice for an exhibition game against area high school hockey players and other local residents.

Come to an autumn afternoon concert on Sunday, October 30th at The First Religious Society in Newburyport and enjoy beautiful choral music from the 18th century as the works of Haydn And Handel are performed by the Candlelight Chorale of Newburyport.
Franz Joseph Haydn’s “Little Organ Mass” is a gem of the Classical choral tradition, with beautiful choral sounds and an ornate organ solo, to be played on a handmade continuo organ now on loan to the church from A. David Moore.
George Fredric Handel’s “O Praise the Lord” is a longer work for chamber choir, soloists, string trio and oboe. Those who love Handel’s “Messiah” may be pleasantly surprised to discover this charming piece, one of Handel’s famous “Chandos Anthems.”

The Amesbury Sports Park will be hosting the 5th Annual Brew Feston Saturday, September 24, from 12:00 to 8:30 pm. at its facility at 12 South Hunt Road in Amesbury MA.
The Brew Fest, sponsored by Dos Equis, will feature a plethora of microbrews, barbecue, OGO (Outdoor Gravity Orb) and summer tubing rides and music by 6 live bands on an outdoor stage.
The Park’s Brew Fest attracted nearly 2,200 people last year, and they are expecting north of 4,500 people to attend the all day event this year.

The Amesbury First Committee, a committee of the Amesbury Chamber of Commerce & Industrial Foundation will be holding its Annual Fall Festival on Saturday, October 1, 2011 from 10 am. to 5 pm.
Live music and entertainment will be offered in the Amphitheater located in the Upper Millyard, as well as at various local businesses.
Vendors and artisans will fill Market Square in downtown Amesbury and demonstrate their products and services. There will be a lot of great food and fun for all!
