It has definitely been a great beach weather summer so far in Greater Newburyport this year!

If you want to add to your summer beach experience, the Blue Ocean Music Hall on Salisbury Beach is having a Buffett Beach Blast on Wednesday evening, July 28th. with a tailgate party followed by a show by the Jimmy Buffett Tribute Band, Changes in Latitudes.

Tickets: Tailgate Party – $15 per car (Note: the Tailgate Party is optional; you can go the Show at 8:00 pm for $25 without going to the Tailgate Party.)

Proceeds from the event to benefit the free summer concert & fireworks series at Salisbury Beach.

The Hot Like Fire Reggae Band will be performing at the Surfside Live Beachfront Stage at Salisbury Beach on Saturday, July 24th from 7:30 to 10:00 pm.

The free performance is followed by a fireworks display over the ocean at 10:00 pm and is one of the summer events presented by the Surfside Live Concert and Fireworks Series at Salisbury Beach.

If you want to learn about the moon and its phasesSalisbury Beach State Reservation, join the Reservation’s Park Interpreter and a speaker from the Amateur Astronomy Society to learn about moon phases, their effects on the Earth, and how past cultures have related to the moon.

View the full moon through a scope and with your naked eye.

Bring bug spray!

Recommended for ages 6 and up. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Where To Meet: Meet at The Nature Center located next to the John Currier Recreation Area and Pavilion on the Merrimack River.

If you want to learn about the salt marshes of the North Shore and the Salisbury Beach State Reservation, join the reservation’s staff educator for a journey back through time along the Salisbury beach coastline and explore the salt marsh.

Find out answers to such questions as: How did it get there? Why is it so important?

Learn about the creatures that call it home while playing games.

Wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting dirty and wet (no flip-flops please). Don’t forget the sunscreen and bug spray!

Salisbury Beach is holding its annual 4th of July Spectacular celebration on Saturday and Sunday, July 3rd & 4th with two days of fun-filled events and activities, including a 20 minute fireworks show over the ocean at 10:00 pm on Saturday, July 3rd.

You can enjoy America’s star spangled holiday with music, fireworks, sand sculptures, campfires and more!

Saturday, July 3 – Fun All Summer! Fun All Day! (10:00 am – Close)

• Enjoy the sea and surf, ice cream and cotton candy, beach pizza and fried dough, arcades and more.
• Dine over the ocean, listen to reggae on a giant oceanfront deck.
• Get your palm read.
• Play games on the Broadway Mall.
• Visit the Blue Ocean Society for Marine Conservation’s Sea Life Discovery Center where you can come face-to-face with marine creatures at their new touch tank!
• Or take a surf lesson with Zapstix at their second, new oceanfront location.

Treasure Island Sand Sculptures and Treasure Hunt (Noon-7:30 pm)
Trek through giant pirate-themed sand sculptures carved by regional and national sculptors. Go on a treasure hunt for a prize! Buy a treasure map at the Broadway Mall information booth adjacent to the sand sculptures, search for your specially numbered treasure and win a fun prize!

SurfSide Live Outdoor Music Series Concert (7:30pm-10:00pm)

Fireworks Show Over the Ocean (10:00pm)
Bring a beach chair and view a 20-minute dazzling fireworks display over the Atlantic Ocean.

The Sea Life Discovery Center at Salisbury Beach features marine life touch tanks, observation tanks, and interesting artifacts such as whale bones, baleen and a giant barnacle that came from a whale. Check out examples of the marine life from our local waters in the Gulf of Maine!

The center’s brand new, state-of-the-art touch tank was made possible by a donation from the Blue Ocean Music Hall in Salisbury Beach!

The summer season officially kicks off at Salisbury Beach with the 4th annual Sand & Sea Festival, an event that offers something for the whole family. The Festival is FREE with a small fee for some activities.

This year’s festival includes two event packed days of activities, including a 20-minute fireworks display launched from a barge over the ocean at 10:00 pm on Saturday, June 26th at 10:00 pm!

Here is a quick list of just a few of the events and activities that you and your family can enjoy at the the 4th annual Sand & Sea Festival:

• Youth Beach Soccer Tournament, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, Saturday & Sunday, June 26th & 27th
• 32nd Annual Salisbury Lifeguard Beach Race, 6:00 pm, Saturday, June 26th
