Bruins hockey legends team up against local high school students and community leaders in unique fundraising game

Boston Bruins hockey fervor continues on the North Shore! The community is invited to be a part of local hockey history when Boston Bruins alumni legends, including Bruins all-time great Ray Bourque, Rick Middleton, Terry O’Reilly and others, take the ice for an exhibition game against area high school hockey players and other local residents.

Bruins Skate for Nate, a fundraiser to support the Nathaniel Bibaud Recovery Fund, will be held Saturday, October 29th, 2011, 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at The Governor’s Academy Whiston-Bragdon Arena in Byfield.

Newburyport Candlelight Chorale Presents Works Of Haydn And Handel, The First Religious Society, Newburyport, Sunday, October 30th

Come to an autumn afternoon concert on Sunday, October 30th at The First Religious Society in Newburyport and enjoy beautiful choral music from the 18th century as the works of Haydn And Handel are performed by the Candlelight Chorale of Newburyport.

Franz Joseph Haydn’s “Little Organ Mass” is a gem of the Classical choral tradition, with beautiful choral sounds and an ornate organ solo, to be played on a handmade continuo organ now on loan to the church from A. David Moore.

George Fredric Handel’s “O Praise the Lord” is a longer work for chamber choir, soloists, string trio and oboe. Those who love Handel’s “Messiah” may be pleasantly surprised to discover this charming piece, one of Handel’s famous “Chandos Anthems.”

November 2011 Learn To Skate Programs At The Graf Rink, Newburyport

Graf RinkThe Graf Rink, Newburyport is now accepting applications for its November 2011 Learn to Skate and Tiny Tots programs.

Classes will run on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday. Specialized classes focus on the basic fundamentals that are important for shaping both hockey and figure skating skills.

Skaters have the chance to earn skill-badges throughout the series. Student to coach ratio is kept low and classes are available for skaters age 3 through adult. For detailed information such as class cost, as well as registration forms, please visit the Graf Rink, website.

All classes are taught by professional coaches who have been hired by North Shore Rink Management and who have successfully completed a comprehensive background screening process through the National Center for Safety Initiatives. Our next series of Learn to Skate will begin in January!
