The Mass Audubon Society’s Joppa Flats Education Center offers a Wednesday Morning Birding program from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
If you’re one of the lucky ones that has time available during the week, join Joppa Flats Sanctuary Director Bill Gette and USFWS veteran David Weaver for this weekly birding field trip in the Newburyport/Plum Island area. It’s a great way to observe birds in the area and identify some of the better locations for finding them when on your own.

Exhibition: Photographer Brooks Mathewson Presents “From Waders to Warblers: A Photographic Celebration of Birds” at Mass Audubon’s Joppa Flats
On Sunday February 27, at 2:30 p.m. you are invited to attend an opening reception for ecologist and nature photographer Brooks Mathewson at the Joppa Flats Education Center, Newburyport. The reception is open to the public and free of charge. A portion of all purchases made during the exhibit will help to support Mass Audubon’s Joppa Flats.
Ecologist and nature photographer Brooks Mathewson will present an exhibit of his photographs, “From Waders to Warblers: A Photographic Celebration of Birds,” at the Massachusetts Audubon Society’s Joppa Flats Education Center from February 27 through April 10, 2011. Mr. Mathewson will introduce his work at an opening reception on Sunday February 27, at 2:30 p.m. at the Joppa Flats Education Center.

Max Sullivan is one of the areas up and coming young performers. A talented young guitarist and charismatic performer, and only 20 years old, Max Sullivan is already getting notice and radio airplay. Gary Johnson served as Governor of New Mexico from 1995-2003. Gov. Johnson was previously founder & CEO of Big J Enterprises, a one-man handyman business he grew into a 1,000-employee construction company. An athlete and adventure seeker, he has climbed Mount Everest and competed in triathlons, marathons, and bike and hot-air-balloon races. He is currently Honorary Chairman of the Our America Initiative and visiting the area during what will be his sixth trip to New Hampshire.

WEDNESDAY MORNING BIRDING ON CAPE ANN
The Mass Audubon Society’s Joppa Flats Education Center, Newburyport is offering a special Wednesday Morning Birding field trip around Cape Ann on March 9th from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Join Joppa Flats Sanctuary Director Bill Gette and USFWS veteran David Weaver for this special birding field trip around Cape Ann which is appropriate for all birding levels.
This very popular program provides an excellent opportunity to explore one of the most productive birding areas in the country. To date, over 310 species of birds have been observed on these Wednesday field trips.
Where To Meet: Meet in Gloucester at the Friendly’s restaurant at the first traffic circle on Route 128.
Registration not required. Please wear appropriate clothes and bring binoculars, spotting scopes, and snacks or lunch.
Fee: Adults $12.00 (members)/ $15.00(non-members)
