Did you ever want to take a tour of the Shellfish Purification Plant on Plum Island, Newburyport?

Sandy Point State Reservation on Plum Island is offering a free tour of the Shellfish Purification Plant on Tuesday, October 5th. The program is approximately 60 minutes long.

You can tour the Shellfish Purification Plant and find out what happens to your clams between the mud flats and your plate. Why do we need to clean your clams? How does it happen? You’ll find answer to these and other questions with the Park educator and staff bacteriologist at the Shellfish Purification Plant.

Note: This program is being held at the Shellfish Purification Plant, located at 84 82ndStreet, Plum Island Point, Newburyport.

Parking: You can park in the Newburyport Parking lot next door free of charge.

Reservations: Reservations are strongly recommended.
