A confirmed great white shark sighting off the coast of Chatham, Massachusetts was widely reported in local media sources over the past few days.

On Sunday, July 11th, a great white shark estimated to be 15 feet long was seen off  the coast of Nauset Beach feeding on seals.  The Chatham area had several confirmed great white shark sightings last summer and observers have been anticipating their arrival in the seal-rich waters off the coast of Chatham.

There have been sightings of great white sharks off the coast of Gloucester and Stellwagen Banks, and off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard in recent weeks, but the sighting this past Sunday was a confirmed by a professional fisherman/researcher.
