Theatre In the Open arrives in the Millyard for a summer performance on Tuesday, June 29th in conjunction with the Amesbury Days 2010 celebration which runs from June 23rd to July 4th.
Join Newburyport’s Theater in the Open — co-directed by Amesbury native Ted Speck — as they add another theatrical form to their repertoire with the panto: storytelling derived from ancient Italian improvisational shows and refined in 19th century Britain.
The venue for the perfomrance is the Millyard Amphitheatre in downtown Amesbury. The performance starts at 5:00 pm and ends at 6:45 pm.
The evening’s performance features song, dance, buffoonery, slap-stick, and audience participation, and promises a rollicking good time to young and old alike.
How will our favorite heroine Cinderella fare in this zany upside down world?
Theater in the Open promises a “happily ever after” to one and all.

Evey’s Late Night Dinner In Concert, Amesbury Days, Millyard Amphitheatre, Monday, June 28th

Evey’s Late Night Dinnerwill be performing in concert at the Millyard Amphitheatre in downtown Amesbury on Monday evening, June 28th.
The two hour performance starts at 7:00 pm and is one of the Amesbury Days 2010 featured events. This year’s celebration of Amesbury Days runs from June 23rd to July 4th.
The Boston band Evey’s Late Night Dinner mixes crafty storytelling with intricate arrangements presented with passion and energy. The sound is best described as an enthralling mix of Indie college rock and American with a dash of root. Performances are tight, tuneful, energetic and with laced with a bit of banter.
The band has defined their music as layers of acoustic and electric guitar work with synthesized melodies that are overlapped by homemade instruments. Band members include: Mike Fitzgerald, Paul MacEachern, Derek Mattuchio, Daniel Muise, and Robert Sansom

Skate Fest 2010 At Newburyport Skate Park, Tuesday, June 29th, 5:00 to 8:00 pm

Hopefully the third time will be the charm for Newburyport’s Skate Fest 2010!
The event, to be hosted by the Friends of Newburyport Skate Park, has been postponed/rescheduled two times already due to rainy and stormy conditions, and is now scheduled for Tuesday, June 29th, 5:00 to 8:00 pm, at the Newburyport Skate Park which is located at the Nock Middle School in Newburyport.
The event will feature demonstrations by amateur skate boarding teams and prizes for participants, raffles and great food including Giuseppe’s Fresh Pasta and Fine Food, Shirley’s Hot Dogs and Nick’s Pizza.
This is the skate park’s major event of the year. Money raised is generally used for park maintenance and improvements. The all-volunteer group recently funded cement repairs, and the park is in great shape.
Come on out and have fun and help support the Friends of Newburyport Skate Park.

10th Annual Newburyport Kitchen Tour
The Annual Newburyport Kitchen Tour has become a featured event in the summer in Newburyport. Proceeds from this year’s the 10th Annual Kitchen Tour benefit the Newburyport Elementary PTO.
This is a fun event, and a fabulous way to learn about the local builders, designers, architects, cabinet makers and view some of the finest kitchens in Newburyport.
All of the proceeds benefit the ever challenged school budget for grades Pre-K through Grade 5.

The Cape Ann Youth Football League along with the Pingree School, South Hamilton will be hosting a two-day, 7v7 Tournament for the fall of 2010 seventh-and eighth-grade area football teams at the Pingree School in Hamilton.
The Tournament is open to all area youth teams for free. T-shirts and trophies will be awarded.

Run4Fun Cross Country Program, Woodsom Farm, Amesbury, July & August 2010

Woodsom Farm, Amesbury is an excellent venue for cross country running.
This summer the Run4Fun Cross Country Programwill offer two sessions at Woodsom Farm:
- Session One – Mondays through Thursday from July 6th through July 23rd
- Session Two- Mondays through Thursday from August 2nd through August 20th
At the end of each session, there will be a race at Woodsom Farm.
Woodsom Farm is owned by the Town of Amesbury and is zoned open space conservancy, thus protecting it from development. The Farm contains approximately 370 acres of prime pastureland, bird nesting sites, open space, drumlin hills, and wetlands, bisected by Lions’ Mouth Road and is located approximately two miles from the Town Center.
The Powow River is the north western boundary of the farm, running from the lakes, back briefly into New Hampshire and then into Lake Gardiner, through downtown and into the Merrimack River.
The Woodsom Farm property was purchased in 1989 from the Woodsom Trust for $5 million dollars and also includes two parcels of open space land behind the houses on Lion’s Mouth Road. The Woodsom Farm property also adjoins the Town Forest.

The summer season officially kicks off at Salisbury Beach with the 4th annual Sand & Sea Festival, an event that offers something for the whole family. The Festival is FREE with a small fee for some activities.
This year’s festival includes two event packed days of activities, including a 20-minute fireworks display launched from a barge over the ocean at 10:00 pm on Saturday, June 26th at 10:00 pm!

Come to the High Street Cemeteryand learn about the history of the gravestones and the site of Ipswich’s earliest interments.
Ipswich’s earliest burials took place in the Old Burying Ground soon after the founding of the town in 1634. Two of the first to be buried were the wife and child of John Winthrop, Jr., son of the governor of Massachusetts.

On Saturday, June 26th, at 7:00 pm, the Tannery Reading Series continues with, Are You Cool?, the North Shore’s coolest night of words, music and the music of words at Jabberwocky’s in the Tannery Marketplace, Newburyport.
Award winning authors Peter Guralnick and Major Jackson get the summer started with Hip Cats, Hot Rhymes and Rock-and-Roll; duo Belle Bousoulle will channel Sun Ra, The King and perform their own funky tunes.
Listen to Peter Guralnick on Elvis, Sun Records and the black and white roots of American cool. Author of Last Train to Memphis: The Rise of Elvis Presley, Dream Boogie: The Triumph of Sam Cooke), Peter Guralnick is the foremost critic and historian of American roots music, whose work has argued for the vitality of intertwined black and white traditions. Writing about Guralnick, Bob Dylan commented, “Elvis steps from the pages. You can feel him breathe. This book cancels out all others.”
Listen to poet Major Jacksonon love, hoops, Tupac and his brand new book. Jackson (Leaving Saturn, Holding Company) is an award-winning poet whose verse “hauntingly reflect(s) urban decay and violence, yet at the same time…rejoice(s) in the sustaining power of music and the potency of community.” Belle Bousoulle will channel Sun Ra, The King and their own funky tunes.
The duo Belle Bousoulle will perform and entertain on rhythm guitar and vocals.
