Autumn Birds of Parker River National Wildlife Refuge on Plum Island
Northern Essex Community College is offering a three hour class, Autumn Birds of the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge on Plum Island, on Sunday, October, 17th from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge, Newburyport. The instructor for the class is Sue McGrath, President of the Essex County Ornithological Club & owner of Newburyport Birders.
Bird watching at the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge on Plum Island is exciting because it’s a world famous, productive site.
During this three-hour class, students will learn about birds in an “outdoor classroom”. Students will develop an appreciation for the world of birds.You’ll learn the basics of bird identification, special characteristics, bird behavior and habitat preferences. We’ll be walking over gentle terrain at a slow pace.
Sturdy footwear is necessary along with a snack and beverage. Dress in layers as the island is always cooler than the mainland.
The class fee includes interpretive materials.
