Mighty Merrimack Rowing Race

Lowell’s Boat Shop, the oldest continuously working boat shop in America, invites you to watch and/or participate in the Mighty Merrimack Rowing Race on Sunday, May 23rd.

The race which is held in conjunction with the Boat Shop’s “Spring Launch” celebration (from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm), celebrates the opening of the shop’s waterfront for the 2010 season.

The Mighty Merrimack Rowing Race, is a 5.5 mile race, starting at the Rocks Village Bridge, West Newbury and ending at Lowell’s Boat Shop, in Amesbury, features dories, skiffs, kayaks, canoes, other traditional boats, sliding seat boats and shells. Rowers are welcome to participate.

After the race, the celebration continues at Lowell’s Boat Shop with victuals, grog & music, provided by the band Demijon.

Entry Fee:
Entry fee is $20 per participant at pre-registration (through May 22).

On race day, the entry fee for registration (9:30 to 10:30) is $25 per participant.

Race Classes will be finalized based on entries. The Race Course (tentative) is 5.5 miles downriver with the ebb tide, starting just above Rocks
