Whale of a 5k Trail Race & Kid's Fun Run

 Prizes:

Prizes will be awarded for winners in different age and gender categories for the 5K Whale of a Race.

Prizes will be awarded to all Kid’s Fun Run participants.

T-shirts are available to the first 150 5K Whale of a Race participants.

This year, we have combined our Earth Day Every Day celebration with the run festivities in effort to highlight the importance of lightening our footprint on the earth. Everyone can participate in earth-friendly activities and learn important information on how to take simple steps to reduce your environmental impact in a big way.

Clean Air Cool Planet will offer presentations on how you can take the New England Carbon Challenge to assess the carbon footprint of your home. Lonza, Eastern Mountain Sports, Public Service of New Hampshire, Blue Ocean Society, Rye Energy Committee, and Timberland have also signed up to take part. Live music and a magician will add to the festivities of the day.

The Rye Energy Committee has partnered with the Center to develop their challenge for 2010, Honor Your Home, which will kick-off on race day. To take part in this initiative, you must be a resident of Rye and commit to taking three or more actions to lessen you carbon footprint by “buttoning up” your home. Once committed, participants will be “honored” by having their home painted by a local artist. The artwork will be exhibited at the Center from November 12-December 16.

Registration:

Registration for the 5K Whale of a Race is $12 in advance, before April 18th, (plus a processing fee for online registration); $18 on the day-of the race, and $6 for the Kid’s Fun Run.

You can register online or pick up a registration form at the Seacoast Science Center in Rye, NH open 10-5, 7 days a week or call 603-436-8043.
