2010 Summer Programs Registration Now Underway At BOATCAMP Inc., Newburyport

Spend your summer with BOAT CAMP!
The day’s are getting longer and spring is quickly approaching. You know that summer can’t be too far behind!
And it’s not too early to start making your plans for your children’s summer activities.
BOAT CAMP Inc., Newburyport, a nonprofit marine and environmental education organization that offers a variety of week-long summer programs for kids ages 5 and older ashore and afloat, is now accepting registration for their 2010 summer programs.
Ashore and afloat, BOAT CAMP Inc. offers a variety of week-long summer programs for kids of all ages, grades K-12.
They are offering a new summer program this year, “River Runners,“ a morning program that is an exploration of the Merrimack River for kids ages 5 & 6 and includes a boat tour of the river.
Kids ages 7 to 9 are welcome aboard the “Young Scientists” program. Each morning, kids spend time on the water and in the field exploring the Merrimack River Estuary and Great Marsh.
Kids ages 9 and older are welcome aboard the Erica Leewith Capt. Rob Yeomans of Newburyport High School for a week of ocean exploration, including hauling lobster traps, sand eel seining, otter trawl exploration, fishing for bass and blues, cod and flounder, tidepooling at the Isles of Shoals, visits to Rockport and Thacher Island.
In addition, kids ages 13 to 17 are invited to attend during the week of August 2-6, when BOAT CAMP Inc. will offer optional academic credit (high school or college undergraduate credits) for participation. They also offer a number of year-round programs for all ages, including professional development for educators.
Teacher-Naturalists include Kate and Rob Yeomans, John Halloran, Garry Dow and Scott Mercer.
BOAT CAMP Inc. is located on the waterfront at Hilton’s Marina , next door to Plum Island Coffee Roasters. Visitors are always welcome to stop in and view the animals inside our 110-gallon saltwater touch tank!
