Light Pollution In Greater Newburyport, Presentation By Dr. Mario Motta, PITA Hall, Plum Island, Wednesday, March 10th

March 9, 2010

When: Wednesday, March 10th, from 7:00 to 8:00 pm
Where: PITA Hall, Plum Island Turnpike, Newbury, MA

Light pollution is an ongoing problem throughout the civilized world and one that is all around us. If you appreciate the night sky or are a casual stargazer, you know how ubiquitous light pollution is in the evening sky in the Greater Newburyport region.

You can learn more about light pollution and how to reduce it by attending a free program by International Dark-Sky Association Board member Dr. Mario Motta that is being hosted by Plum Island Taxpayers & Associates (PITA) at Pita Hall, Plum Island Turnpike, on March 10th from 7 to 8 p.m.

Dr. Motta is a prominent North Shore cardiologist and a well-known astronomer who has built an observatory at his Gloucester home near Wingaersheek Beach. He will discuss the issue of light pollution and what we can do to reduce it.

The program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served after the program.
