EDUCATION VOLUNTEER TRAINING AT JOPPA FLATS EDUCATION CENTER
Do you love the outdoors and sharing nature with children? If you do, become an education volunteer at Joppa Flats!
Throughout the school year, Joppa Flats staff and volunteers offer a wide range of coastal ecology and birding programs for children on-site at Joppa Flats, at schools, and in various wild habitats.
Learn to assist children’s educator Lisa Hutchings in coastal ecology and birding programs in the field and at schools. No experience necessary. Post-training commitment: two half-days per month.
To prepare its volunteers to assist with these quality programs, Mass Audubon’s Joppa Flats Education Center provides complete in-the-field training. You’ll learn a wide variety of hands-on activities and experiments pertaining to levels of questioning, learning modalities, and using objects in nature to practice science.
Join the Center’s crew of trained naturalists and help Mass Audubon with its mission to increase awareness and inspire stewardship of the natural world.
After completing the training and performing three full shifts as an education volunteer for Joppa Flats, you will receive a full refund of your registration fees.
