Winter Quest, Castle Hill Winter Exploration, On The Crane Estate, Ipswich, Sunday, January 31st

Winter is a great time to explore Castle Hill and the Great House in Ipswich, MA.

On Sunday, January 31st, the Trustees of Reservations invites you to explore Castle Hill and the Great House as part of the Castle Hill Winter Explorations program.

What are the fields, forests, furnaces and fireplaces of Castle Hill like in the quiet of winter? Take your choice of a discovery walk outdoors or in the Great House, or do both.

Then warm up with hot chocolate.

All ages are welcome.

Castle Hill is also home to a wide diversity of wildlife typical of northeast Massachusetts forests. Deer, fox, turkey, and a multitude of songbirds can be observed from the many trails and roads on Castle Hill.

In addition, Castle Hill is home to several pairs of nesting great horned owls and red-tailed hawks. Due to its location on the Atlantic Ocean and adjacent Crane Beach, unusual species such as turkey vultures, migratory hawks, and even an occasional bald eagle can be seen soaring above the landscape.

Time: 2:00 to 4:00 pm

Cost: Members: $4. Nonmembers: $5.
