The Mass Audubon Society’s Joppa Flats Education Center offers a Wednesday Morning Birding program from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

If you’re one of the lucky ones that has time available during the week, join Joppa Flats Sanctuary Director Bill Gette for this weekly birding field trip in the Newburyport/Plum Island area. It’s a great way to observe birds in the area and identify some of the better locations for finding them when on your own.

During the spring and summer, the center conducts its field trips to birding hot spots in the Newburyport/Plum Island area. The focus for its programs will be the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge (Plum Island), the Merrimack River estuary, Cape Ann, and other productive areas in Essex County.

Ipswich Bay Circuit Trail Committee Sponsored Hikes

You are welcome to join the Wednesday morning hikes that are sponsored by the Ipswich Bay Circuit Trail Committee.

An informal group meets at the Town Landing on East Street, Ipswich at 9:30 am on each Wednesday from mid September to mid June. All are welcome.

The morning hikes explore the woods and trails in and about Ipswich. There are eleven miles of marked trails in Ipswich, Massachusetts, including a portion of the Bay Circuit Trail. These trails are maintained by members of the Ipswich Bay Circuit Trail Committee (IBCTC) with other volunteers, including Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and other organizations in Ipswich.

Merrimack Valley Skating Club Annual Winter Figure Skating Exhibition, Graf Rink, Newburyport, Sunday, December 6th

Admission: $5 for adults; $3 for children and seniors.

The Merrimack Valley Skating Club will be holding its annual Winter Figure Skating Exhibition on Sunday, December 6th beginning at 4pm at the Graf Rink, Newburyport.

This event is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come and watch area figure skaters perform their competitive programs and various routines to holiday music.

There will be Family Skate after the last performance (approximately 5:00 pm) for all of those in attendance for the Exhibition.  Skate rentals for the Family Skate will be complimentary on behalf of the Graf Rink.

Bradford Ski Team Open Registration (Online) For Upcoming Season Now Through November 30th

Bradford Ski Team, Bradford, MAThe Bradford Ski Team, Bradford, MA is announcing open registration for the upcoming season.

The Bradford Ski Team (BST) is a youth alpine race team that competes in the Eastern Mass Buddy Werner League.

The BST race program is open to children of all ages through high school age.

Practices are held week nights at Ski Bradford, Bradford, MA.

The season starts at the sight of first snowfall in mid- to late December, and racing runs January through March on Sunday mornings.

Salisbury Historical Society Holiday Open House, Sunday, November 29th

The Holiday Season is a great time to visit the region’s  historical societies and museums.

Most of these historical properties and museums are festively decorated and filled with positive energy and warmth.

On Sunday, November 29th, the Salisbury Historical Society is holding an Open House, sponsored by the Salisbury Cultural Council, at the Old Parsonage Museum from 3:00 to 6:00 pm.

Come and take a tour of the Salisbury Historical Museum House. Light snacks will be available at the Open House and you can purchase tickets for the Society’s 50/50 Raffle.

Vocalist Lynne Lynch, accompanied by Maury Covino on key board, will be performing Holiday melodies from 4:30 pm  to 5:30 pm.

Fly by the the Center on Sunday for free-flowing nature fun, with arts, crafts, games, and experiments for families with children of all ages.
