Join the Essex Shipbuilding Museum in celebrating its first Annual Salty Dog Day at the museum on Saturday, September 19th.
This all day celebration, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, will explore the significant role that dogs have played in our maritime history.
Did you know that dogs have been an integral part of our maritime history?
Come and find out just how they have, and continue to be, important friends not only on land, but at sea.
Bring the whole family – including your dog!
List of Events & Activities
Here is a list of some of the activities that will occur at Salty Dog Day:
- Dog agility demonstration
- A presentation on “Old Ironsides’” dog – Guerriere
- Face painting
- Food (hot dogs, of course)
- Music
- Individualizing bandanas for your dog
- Making key fobs from sail cloth
- Bobbing for tennis balls
- Sea legs for salty dogs – a demonstration on dog safety aboard a boat
- A raffle on a dog house built by 11th generation shipwright – Harold Burnham.
The Essex Bird Shop and Pet Supply, Cape Ann Animal Aid, and Gayle Allen will also be at the museum on Saturday.
