Theater in the Open proudly presents The Tempest by William Shakespeare in an outdoor production at Maudslay State Park, Newburyport. The production, which is being directed by Stephen Haley, features the following performers:Damon Jespersen of Byfield as Prospero, Amanda Coffin of Boston as Miranda, Damon Singletary of Cambridge as Caliban, and Kevin Thomas of Waltham as Ariel.

The Tempestis the fourth, final, and possibly the finest of Shakespeare’s great romances. It combines elements of tragedy (Prospero’srevenge) with those of romantic comedy (the young lovers Miranda and Ferdinand), and like one of Shakespeare’s problem plays, it poses deeper questions that are not completely resolved by plays end.

The Tempest will be performed on Saturdays and Sundays July 18th through August 9th at 4:00 pm at Maudslay State Park, Newburyport.

Adults: $8.00; Seniors and students: $5.00

Note: The Saturday, July 18th show is free to the public!
