The Parker River National Wildlife Refuge is offering a free program for homeschoolers, Salt Marsh Study for Homeschoolers, on Thursday, June 11th from 9:00 am to 11 am at the refuge.

The program, which is for children ages 8 to 12, will explore the salt marshes of Plum Island.

  • Did you know that over one-third of the refuge is salt marsh?
  • Did you know that salt marshes are one of the most productive ecosystems on earth, second only to the rain forest?
  • Come explore the salt marshes of Plum Island and learn about the unique adaptations of the plants and animals that call it home, in this fun, interactive homeschool program.

Wear sturdy shoes that can get wet and muddy, dress for the weather and meet at the refuge visitor center located at 6 Plum Island Turnpike, Newburyport.
