North Shore Adult Women’s Field Hockey Registration Available Online Now Through May 31st

Interested in playing field hockey in the North Shore Adult Women’s Field Hockey League?
If you are, you can sign up and register online, now through May 31, on the North Shore Adult Women’s Field Hockey League website.
Games will be played Saturday mornings, from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Perley School in Georgetown, MA throughout the summer.
The cost to join the league is $80 for the season and includes 11 full field games.

Pasta Dinner Fund Raiser For Newburyport People-to-People Student Ambassadors

Where: Salvation Army, 40 Water Street, Newburyport, MA.
The Salvation Army, Newburyport is hosting a Pasta Dinner fundraiser with all proceeds to benefit two Newburyport High School students, Melissa Dirrico and Derrick Purvis, for their People to People Student Ambassodors Program.
The students will be traveling with a group of students from Massachusetts and New Hampshire to Japan for two weeks this summer. The fundraiser is being used to help underwrite some of their expenses for this trip.
Come on down to the Salvation Army on Sunday, April 26th for a pasta dinner, including a salad, beverage and dessert.

Volunteers Needed For Moseley Woods Clean-Up, Newburyport, Saturday, April 25th

The official opening of Moseley Woods Park is scheduled for Sunday, April 26, 2009.
The opening is dependent upon the Moseley Woods Commission’s ability to perform the annual clean-up and the weather as well.
Volunteers are needed to help with the one-day clean-up on Saturday, April 25th.

Kayak Building Course, Essex Shipbuilding Musuem, May 2nd through 9th

Cost: Tuition is $1,200, or $1,000 for students and special cases.
The Essex Historical Society & Shipbuilding Museum will hold a one-week kayak building workshop May 2 through May 9, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the museum’s Waterline Center, 66 Main St., Essex.
Instructor Rick Eliot will be teaching the one-week kayak building course. The kayak design is based on traditional skin covered kayaks used by the Inuit Eskimos.
Students will build their own kayaks, custom-designed to meet their particular interests. The finished kayak is a work of art, ultra light (30 pounds or less), durable, and beautiful.
All tools and materials are provided; no prior carpentry skills required. Tuition is $1,200, or $1,000 for students, school teachers, husband-wife twin boats, or special cases.
Class size is limited to six students and advance registration by April 25th is required.
Maudslay State Park Cleanup, Park Serve Day, Newburyport, April 25

If you would like to participate in the state-wide Park Serve Day 2009, Saturday, April 25th, you could help by showing up and volunteering two to three hours with the cleanup of Maudslay State Park, Newburyport from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 pm (noon).
Maudslay State Park, the former Moseley family estate on the Merrimack River, features 19th century gardens and plantings, rolling meadows, towering pines, and one of the largest naturally-occurring stands of mountain laurel in Massachusetts.
During this statewide day of volunteer service, volunteers will work together to get parks and beaches across Massachusetts ready for summer by cleaning coastlines, clearing trails, planting flowers, painting picnic tables, and more.

Annual Peak Performance Summer Strength and Conditioning Clinic, Newburyport and Amesbury, Starts June 24th

The annual Peak Performance Summer Strength and Conditioning Clinic will be held from June 24 to August 14 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The eight-week multi-sport clinic will addresses strength, speed, agility, explosiveness, injury-prevention and game conditioning for both male and female athletes, ages 13 through 22.
The clinic will be held in two locations, Newburyport and Amesbury.
Amesbury Clinic
The Amesbury, MA clinic will be held at Amesbury Sports Park (on the turf). Each player that attends will also receive a T-shirt.
Time – Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:00 am to 9:00 am (Coed grades: 7-12)
Newburyport Clinic
The Newburyport clinic will be held at Fuller Field, Low Street, Newburyport. In addition to the morning clinic, two late afternoon sessions will be offered.
Time – Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30 am to 10:30 am (Coeds grades 6th-8th & 9th-12th), 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm (female, if necessary), and from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm (male, 9th-12th grades.)

Join the Seacoast Science Center, Rye, NH for its first annual Whale of a Race & Kid’s Fun Run in Odiorne Point State Park on Saturday, April 25.
The 5K cross-country trail run, created by Eastern Mountain Sports Extreme Team winner Jennifer Shultis, will bring you through the forest, by the rocky shore and sandy beach, and alongside historic military fortifications.
Come prepared to run on varied terrain and whatever the weather may bring.
Competitive and non-competitive runners and walkers are welcome. The Kids Fun Run is for ages 12 and under.
