November 7, 2008
The first snowy owl of the season was seen last week on Plum Island according to Steve Grinley as reported in his “Words On Birds” column that was published on October 25, 2008 in the Daily News of Newburyport.
The owl was observed at Sandy Point on Plum Island last Thursday, October 30th, and was one of the earliest records for seeing this winter owl on Plun Island.
Grinley also reported that other winter birds such as snow buntings, lapland longspurs and horned larks were also observed on Plum Island and coastal New Hampshire last week.
