October 27, 2008

When: Saturday, November 1st, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m
Where: Amesbury Senior Drop-In Center, 9 School St., Amesbury.

The Massachusetts Freemasons and the Amesbury Police Department will be conducting a Child Identification Program (CHIP) Saturday, November 1st from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Amesbury Senior Drop-In Center at 9 School St.

The CHIP program is sponsored by The Grand Lodge of Masons in Massachusetts and is endorsed by the Massachusetts Crime Prevention Officers Association and Massachusetts Dental Society.

The program is free and suitable for children of all ages. As part of the program, parents and caregivers are given a free identification kit which includes a short video of their child, a set of fingerprints, a dental impression and a DNA sample.

All materials are given to the parent or caregivers to take home; neither the police nor Masons keep any materials. Instructions are also included on the use of the kit should the child become lost or missing.

For more information or questions about the CHIP event, please contact Officer Tom Hanshaw at the Amesbury Police Department, thomash@ci.amesbury.ma.us or call 978-388-1217.
