Newburyport Girls Soccer Team Featured in Boston Globe, September 21st

There is a nice article in the Boston Globe North Sports section today, Sunday, September 21, 2008, by Matt Porter on the Newburyport High School girls 2008 soccer team.
Last year the Newburyport girls soccer team, which won its first Division 3 State Championship, was almost unstoppable compiling a 20-1-2 record with fourteen shutouts. This year the Newburyport Clippers, currently 4-0, are again a dominant force in the Cape Ann League and heavily favored to win the Cape Ann League championship.

If you want to learn more about the butterflies that are found in Greater Newburyport, make plans to attend the lecture, “Butterflies of Northeastern Massachusetts,” on Thursday, September 25th from 7:00 p.m. to 8 p.m at the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge Visitors Center.
Butterflies are beautiful and delicate insects, symbolizing freedom, whimsy and good fortune. They abound in the wet and dry meadows of our area, but some species are showing worrisome declines in numbers.
Join Sharon Stichter, editor of the Massachusetts Butterfly Club’s journal, Massachusetts Butterflies, to learn about some of our common and not-so-common species, where they may be found, and the habitats they need to survive. A handout on butterfly gardening will be available.
