Merrimack River Maritime Festival at Salisbury Beach, July 19 & 20

Where: Salisbury Beach State Reservation and Salisbury Beach Center

The first annual Merrimack River Maritime Festival, sponsored by the Salisbury Beach Partnership, will take place on Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 20, 2008, at Salisbury Beach and the Salisbury Beach State Reservation.

The festival will be host to three class A and B vessels on the Merrimack River that will be accessible to the public for public viewing and tours from the Salisbury Beach State Reservation.

The three Class A and B vessels that will be docked for public viewing and tours at the Reservation for the two-day riverside festival include:

The Spirit of South Carolina, a 140 foot replica of an 1879 two-masted schooner
The Roseway, a 1925, 137′ National Historic Landmark fishing schooner, which remains one of only six original Grand Banks Schooners
The Tall Ship Mystic, a 170 foot three-masted ship from Mystic, CT.

In addition to ship viewing and tours, a host of interactive educational demonstrations and activities abound for visitors under a tent adjacent to the Merrimack River at the Reservation.
