“Boat Massachusetts” Course Offered in Salisbury

Where: The Hilton Senior Center on Lafayette Road, Salisbury (next to the fire station)
When: 6:30 to 8 p.m., Tuesdays and Wednesdays, starting May 13 and 14, then continuing May 20, 21, 27 and 28

A free Boat Massachusetts course will be offered by The Massachusetts Environmental Police and the Salisbury Harbormaster Department are offering a Boat Massachusetts course at the Hilton Senior Center, 43 Lafayette Road, Salisbury.

Boat Massachusetts is a state and nationally approved program that reviews the equipment and operating guidelines needed to enjoy boating in a safe and responsible way. The course is 10 to 12 hours in length. The normal format is five to six classes, 90 minutes to two hours each, though this may vary. All classes are free of charge.

This program is open to adults and youth. Family participation is also encouraged. Successful graduates in the 12-through-15-years-old age group will be issued a safety certificate allowing them to operate a motorboat without adult supervision, as required by state law. The same is true for 16- and 17-year-old teenagers who wish to operate personal watercraft (Jet Skis, Wave Runners, etc.).

Classes will be held at the Hilton Senior Center from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesdays and Wednesdays, starting May 13 and 14, then continuing May 20, 21, 27 and 28.
